Technology Risk Management and Information Security (TRMIS) is a group of technology, security and risk professionals in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., focused on managing a comprehensive program to assess, prioritize, and mitigate business risk with technology controls.

The Cyber Security Team is responsible for protecting the Bank, customers and employees by mitigating and identifying technology threats to TD. Development of effective risk management programs help ensure TD’s best-in-class cyber security approach.

Job Description

In this role within TRMIS, reporting to the AVP, Project delivery, is responsible for planning, managing and delivering TRMIS Project(s) assigned through all specific phases in alignment with business and/or enterprise strategies. This role oversees relationships (internal and external); liaises with other departments performing financial management; provides leadership, direction, and coaching to team(s) while partnering with business and executive stakeholders within across multiple Lines of Business (LoB).

Job Requirements

  • Manage the delivery and/or support of projects for TRMIS security to meet business objectives/goals.

  • Oversees the scope during the course of the project and collaboratively adjusts scope where necessary ensuring adherence to established project change management processes.

  • Owns project / program / portfolio financials; Owns data quality and accuracy in financial reporting.

  • Generates cost estimates and provides general financial management, incorporating risk, by leveraging appropriate tools, templates, established estimating models, best practices, stakeholders and processes for assigned project.

  • Provides project reporting, including technology spend, and ad-hoc analysis and presents issues requiring attention by senior management. Escalates issues, as required.

  • Identifies discrepancies between financial forecasts and actuals and escalates material discrepancies and adjusts scope, schedule or budget as appropriate.

  • Provides and creates project artifacts throughout the PMLC from Ideation to closure.

  • Monitors project health continuously and engages management as required if project health changes.

  • Monitor project performance and act as a point of contact for escalations and other issues as required.

  • Supports vendor management and strategic sourcing process, managing RFP activities and partnering with vendor(s) to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.

  • Anticipates and effectively manages risks; aligns decisions to TD's risk profile.

  • Investigates and where necessary escalates all project issues to support effective resolution.

  • Manages resource and capacity management process for assigned projects.

  • Manages stakeholder expectation in a timely manner; Ensure a close relationship is maintained with ITS sponsors, AVPs, VPs, in order to be kept informed of their business needs and direction.

  • Closes project spending accounts upon project closure.

  • Comply with project management methodology (PMLC) as determined by ePMO .

  • Promote and support an environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism.

  • Provide leadership to attract/retain high-quality people, including appropriate employee communication.

  • Ability to structure/processes, succession planning, etc..

  • Proven business acumen: strategic thinking, business process development, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Present and meet the "C" level within the organization.

  • Able to address sponsor and steering committee review boards.

  • Proven ability to deliver results in an environment where resources are shared across multiple competing groups.

  • Typically leads the delivery of Tier 3/4 projects ($1MM to $10MM).

  • May indirectly manage a cross-LoB project team consisting of Business Analyst, Business SMEs and Technology resources where applicable to the project.

  • May manage a number of small projects at any given time.

  • Strong governance around, triple constraints, use and leverage of details in project plans, schedules, presentations skills, Project Charter / Scope and RACI.

  • Champions project governance and processes; support/participate in developing the strategic direction of the PMO.

  • Conduct/oversee project planning with ITS Stakeholders, prioritize new/existing projects and allocate Project Management resources consistent with business strategy and objectives .


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 3-5 Years of related experience.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision making skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong collaborative business and technology relationships.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, making sound business decisions.

  • Self driven and have excellent problem solving skills.

  • Detail oriented and have well-developed organizational skills.

  • Individual must have exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, flexible and possess a high degree of initiative and motivation.

  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external Customer service.

Preferred Qualifications Here are the preferred qualifications for the role:

  • Ability to translate the Audit requirements to business / technical requirement.

  • Advanced knowledge of bank and technology standards (e.g., infrastructure, architecture, processes, applications) from a strategic perspective and managing/ directing teams and application support.

  • Advanced and thorough understanding of businesses and/or organizational practices/ disciplines.

  • Understanding of regulatory governing bodies such as PCI, SOX, COBIT.

  • Proven ability to strategically think and execute.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite of software (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook and Sharepoint) with expert working and operational knowledge of MS Excel and Clarity.
