  • Advanced and highly-specialized knowledge of the business, technology controls / security/ risk issues.

  • Ability to demonstrate technical leadership to a larger team portfolio.

About This Role

We are looking for someone to lead and provide sound counsel on development and implementation of significant enterprise-wide Technology Controls and Information Security strategies, policies, programs and tools. As part of this, you'll oversee control and governance activities and identify and assess potential security risks, vulnerabilities that impact highly complex, high-risk businesses or transformational strategic initiatives. You'll have significant exposure to executives and functional stakeholders enterprise-wide if you prove to be the winning candidate.

  • Provide technical leadership on a range of specific Technology Controls and Information Security programs, policies, standards and incidents.

  • Lead risk assessment, required controls definition, control procedure appropriateness, vulnerability assessments and any other relevant areas.

  • Conduct comprehensive risk and control design assessments for an application portfolio, articulate and document impact of control gaps to the business and enterprise-wide, risk mitigation and remediation plans, remediation strategy document or provide information security solutions to address risks.

  • Contribute to the definition, development, and oversight of a global security management strategy and framework.

  • Ensure technology, processes, and governance are in place to monitor, detect, prevent, and react to both current and emerging security threats against TDBG’s business.

  • Provide guidance and/or lead on the development of on-going technology risk reporting, monitoring key trends and defining metrics to regularly measure control effectiveness for own area.

  • Act as primary practice / technical expert and proactively work with technology partners and stakeholders and service/platform owners to ensure all technology security components are integrated into the bank’s overall Enterprise Architecture, and any control gaps are addressed.

  • Adhere to, advise on, oversee, monitor, enforce enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to technology controls and information security activities.

  • Influence behavior to reduce risk and foster a strong technology risk management culture throughout the enterprise.

  • Remain informed of emerging issues, industry trends and/or relevant changes.

Preferred Qualifications - Here are the preferred qualifications for this role:

Work on modern data preparation, integration and AI-enabled metadata management tools and techniques

Architect and govern data consumption patterns for consumers to ensure both the security and performance of business applications

Govern and monitor schema changes for datasets.

Evaluate new and emerging data ingestion technologies such as streaming and microservice orchestration

Collaborate with our data science teams and business (data) analysts in refining their data requirements for various data and analytics initiatives and their data consumption requirements

Monitor new data best practices while ensuring it's shared with teams appropriately and implemented where needed

Understand and comply with TD's governance and compliance initiative to ensure data users and consumers use the data provisioned to them responsibly

At least 6+ years of work experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modelling, optimization and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks

At least 3+ years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in Microsoft Azure in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiative

Strong experience with advanced analytics tools for Object-oriented/object function scripting using languages such as R, Python, Java, C++, Scala and others

Working ability to design, build and manage data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata and workload management

Solid experience working with popular database programming languages including SQL, PL/SQL and others for relational databases and certifications on upcoming NoSQL/Hadoop-oriented databases like MongoDB, Cassandra and others for nonrelational databases

Proven work experience tackling large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures and integrated datasets using traditional data integration technologies such as ETL/ELT, data replication/CDC, message-oriented data movement, API design and access and upcoming data ingestion and integration technologies such as stream data integration, CEP and data virtualization

Proficient working with SQL on Hadoop tools and technologies including HIVE, Impala, Presto and others from an open-source perspective and Hortonworks Data Flow (HDF), Dremio, Informatica, Talend and others from a commercial vendor perspective

Skilled working with both open-source and commercial message queuing technologies such as Kafka, Solace, Oracle Service Bus, JMS, Azure Service Bus, Amazon Simple queuing Service and others stream data integration technologies such as Apache Nifi, Apache Beam, Apache Kafka Streams, Amazon Kinesis and others; and stream analytics technologies such as Apache Kafka KSQL Apache Spark Streaming Apache Samza and others

Demonstrated success in working with large, heterogeneous datasets to extract business value using popular data preparation tools such as Trifacta, Paxata, Unifi and others to reduce or even automate parts of the tedious data preparation tasks

Demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments including cloud, on-premises and hybrid; multiple operating systems and through containerization techniques such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Container Service and others

Adept in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps and increasingly DataOps principles to data pipelines to improve the communication, integration, reuse and automation of data flows between data managers and consumers across an organization

Ability to work with data science teams in refining and optimizing data science and machine learning models and algorithms

A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems
