Job Description:

Operational Risk Management is accountable for the design and implementation of TD’s Operational Risk Management Framework that sets out the Bank’s policies, processes and practices for the identification, assessment, reporting, mitigation and control of operational risk. Within this context, ORM acts as an independent risk management function responsible for ensuring the Bank has an effective operational risk management program to manage risk within the Bank's risk appetite.

TDBG applies the “Three Lines of Defence” model to risk management. As a representative of the second line of defence in the 2B space, the position of Senior Analyst, Scenario Analysis and External Loss Event Data (ELED), assures the appropriate design, implementation and/or execution of (applicable components of) the TDBG risk management framework. This position will report to the Senior Risk Manager, TDBG Operational Risk Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis.

Scenario Analysis is a systematic and repeatable process of obtaining expert opinions from Business managers and risk management experts to derive reasoned assessments of forward looking potential operational risk tail events. The program provides opportunities to gain understanding of TD's businesses and their operational risk profile. In this role, the Senior Analyst, Scenario Analysis and ELED, will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the successful development, execution and ongoing management of the operational risk scenario analysis program across TD's business segments and corporate functions. Must maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure timely execution and reporting of all program related mandates.

  • Act as a challenger during scenario workshop sessions to clearly establish risks, controls, and severity and frequency of tail events. Interpret results from scenario analysis assessments and other risk assessments to drive discussions and articulate facts, issues and gaps clearly and concisely at both a summary and detailed documentation level.

  • Draft clear communications and play the role of a key contributor in the documentation of standards/guidelines and procedures. Ensure the execution is aligned with the program standards and help create and execute more efficient operational/workflow procedures with partners.

  • Complete, maintain and update scenario analysis and related risk management process information and documentation to meet both internal (e.g. Internal Audit) and regulatory requirements in both the US and Canada.

  • Work closely with the Manager, Scenario Analysis/ELED, for day-to-day execution of the program/process requirements. Support other ORM programs asks including Stress Testing.

  • Keep abreast of changes in external loss events and trends related to operational risks. Gather and analyze risk data to interpret results and implications of these events to TD's businesses and scenario analysis process.
