Job Description:

TD Securities ("TDS") is one of the world's leading wholesale banks with operations spread across 15 locations. Global Transaction Banking ("GTB") is comprised of four business lines: Treasury Solutions Corporates and Financial Institutions, Global Trade Finance and Export Agency Finance. Support functions include: Credit Structuring, Product Strategy and Innovation, Business Intelligence and Business Risk / Control.

GTB is a key growth business within TDS offering innovative solutions and treasury advisory services on large and complex liquidity, payments, and trade needs. Over the last decade, we have seen unprecedented levels of innovation within our industry which GTB continually adapts to meet our client's needs. GTB is highly integrated within TDS and TD Bank Financial Group and works in close partnership with Risk, Operations, Legal, GAML, and Treasury and Balance Sheet Management.

Treasury Solutions provides treasury management products to Canadian public companies, the subsidiaries of global multi-nationals and Financial Institutions. Treasury management consists of the collection, disbursement and management of money, and the related information technology required to implement this. Treasury Solutions provides the linkages between these large Corporate, Financial Institution clients and the global payments system, through a variety of technology-based products, supported by high caliber sales and execution personnel. Each client typically receives a bespoke solution that allows their systems to connect with those of TD, to facilitate money movement on an automated basis. We have teams throughout Canada and the U.S. and call on clients around the world.

Role Overview

We are seeking a recruit with the capability to add value today, with the potential for a long-term career within our Global Transaction Banking team. In this role, the Associate Business Management (BMT) will work with members of Treasury Solutions Corporate and Financial Institutions origination team to assist with business mandates to increase total clients, as well as revenue and profitability across the entire portfolio.

BMT operate in a demanding environment and requires a self-starting, efficient person who works extremely well in a team, can manage multiple priorities and projects at the same time, and thrives in a fast-paced, intense, exciting environment.

The successful candidate will have a hands-on role in executing programs and leading change management in support of the overall business. The incumbent will act as a liaison between GTB and TDBFG along with various other external support partners to enable the success of the team by executing business strategies, plans, and initiatives.

This position is based in Toronto. Progression within the team may require travel to build and fulfill Business Management and Strategic Execution globally to support all regions.

Job Accountabilities

The Associate is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Understand the overall TDS client organization strategy, particularly that of Corporate and Investment banking.

  • Provide guidance and assistance for Treasury Solutions Corporates and Financial Institutions Origination and Client Management teams, on strategic execution and business matters.

  • Assist with complex onboardings and the resolution of client escalations.

  • Support client origination efforts including annual reviews, proposals and RFP's, as required.

  • Own and cultivate partner relationships within TDBFG and external partners/vendors to drive optimum experiences and results for the business.

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, regularly reviewing and optimizing procedures to enable efficiencies within.

  • Provide support with audit and testing engagements from regulators and second and third-line stakeholders, including providing remedial support for any findings.

  • Support continuous improvement towards a strong and mature business governance and control environment.

  • Maintain front-line procedures on a continual basis and ensure appropriate training and guidance provided to Treasury Solutions to ensure adherence to documented procedures.

  • Perform additional duties and participate in special projects, as required.

  • Promote an intelligence culture that empowers the organization to evaluate client needs, market trends, competitor movements, and determine BMT actions & priorities on behalf of Treasury Solutions.

  • Ability to translate and interpret data independently and information into relevant proposals/recommendations and to progress initiatives to completion.

Job requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or MBA with 5+ years of industry relevant experience in the Financial Services sector demonstrating a track record of accomplishment and progression.

  • Leadership, influencing, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Life or career accomplishments that demonstrate motivation to achieve results, commitment to excellence and willingness to go above and beyond.

  • An interest in technology, particularly FinTech, and a consciousness of its impact on the business.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well individually and as part of a team, including the desire to develop oneself as a leader.

  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor.

  • Expert in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Results-oriented with ability to operate without clearly defined procedures and is comfortable with ambiguity and change.

  • Experience and understanding of Cash Management Services / Solutions used by complex / multi-national Corporations and Financial Institutions.

  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills to plan and execute change, leveraging research and data including economic insights, market / industry insights, and client feedback.

  • Project management is a plus.
