Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Group Vendor Manager, Property, this role will support the development and execution of an Industry leading effective vendor management program within TDI. In partnership with strategic sourcing, and the claims operational leadership the incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of Vendor performance management initiatives creating better value for TDI Customers, Employees and Shareholders. In addition, ensure compliance to TDI risk and expense policies and procedures The incumbent will provide ongoing professional and specialized support on all vendor activities to all business areas as required.

The general accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead a team of Regional Vendor Management professionals that manage Third Party Business Arrangements with our General Contracting Network, and reinspection personnel.

  • Ensure each Vendor Manager on team has obtained appropriate training based on their job accountability, including onboarding training if required.

  • Grow team expertise to align with business/enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered.

  • Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews, coach and develop employees and ensure performance management activities are undertaken and completed for all employees.

  • Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team and ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams.

  • Ensure all customer needs are considered during sourcing activities and sign-off is obtained from the key stakeholders when major decisions are made, or contracts are awarded.

  • Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key vendors for TDI.

  • Ensure the prompt and thorough resolution of all customer issues and recommend improvements that arise from monitoring and tracking customer issues.

  • Act as the primary interface with the business and lead, influence or intervene in vendor negotiations on behalf of internal clients when necessary.

  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of assigned business units, their objectives, and upcoming projects to communicate better options and alternatives.

  • Develop project/program plans and/or quality assurance measures where applicable and manage all activities related to respective functions.

  • Manage processes associated with the implementation of newly sourced vendors and/or quality assurance/ corporate program initiatives (e.g., centralized invoicing/payment, documentation of contract negotiation/ standard operating procedures, travel procedures, etc.)

  • Manage key relationships, internal stakeholders and/or external suppliers to enhance support to end customers and identify process improvement opportunities where appropriate.

  • Support management requests for reporting based on various performance measures/data unique to the sourcing environment.

  • Develop vendor performance scorecard reports, monitor adherence to established standards and processes, and Conduct performance reviews with suppliers as required.

  • Network with industry peers and internal end users to keep abreast of industry trends, benchmark and compare practices to ensure corporate program remains effective and current and Industry leading.

  • Oversee the measurement of customer service levels within vendor program.

  • Share/Provide industry and/or department expertise with internal and external business partners.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in Vendor Management, project management, risk management, general contracting, and/or claims handling, with proven people leadership and management experience

  • Ability to think strategically: a forward thinker who sees opportunities not problems. Will challenge the status quo and continually look for a better way to execute with excellence.

  • Demonstrated leadership and management ability is vital. The ability to persuade by printed and spoken word is critical.

  • A proven collaborative approach to problem solving, decision-making and communication.

  • Effective communications skills including facilitation, consultation, negotiation, persuasion, and presentations.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, counsel and train staff at a senior managerial level.

  • Strong team player works well under pressure and ability to deal effectively with change.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Occasional travel will be required
