Job Description:

--Reconciles all relevant General Ledger accounts

--Prepares expatriate accounting

--Responsible for quarterly and year-end TD Bank Group and US financial statement footnote preparation for pension and stock based compensation

--Prepares annual 401K and Pension financial statements

--Leads activities of unit, assigning, prioritizing and monitoring work. Provides direction and answers questions as needed

--Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with staff, other internal departments, outside contacts and others as necessary

--Participates in the development of overall department operating policies and procedures by communicating new or unique situations and solutions developed

--Trains accounting and management personnel in assigned business lines in proper day-to-day accounting responsibilities and procedures, developing an accounting perspective and learning how to observe and recognize accounting issues and problems

--Provides ongoing, proactive, specialized accounting advice and counsel to assigned lines of business to ensure clients are operating efficiently under applicable accounting rules and regulations

--Recognizes, identifies and investigates client accounting issues that need attention, researches as needed, offers accounting opinions based on research and knowledge and resolves problems; Responds to business line and other accounting-related requests on a timely basis and answers questions as needed

--Ensures client activities are in compliance with Company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations

--Considers and explains risk management issues prior to implementation, such as determining how the accounting of new initiatives will be monitored and controlled; Coordinates revisions to accounting policy manual for policies within areas of expertise

--Reviews account reconciliations, ensuring that the process is efficient, technically sound and complete and in compliance with applicable accounting guidelines and regulations; Ensures that reconciliations are done properly, including complex areas such as accounting requirements for mortgage servicing rights and determining loan income over the life of a volatile asset such as a loan subject to prepayment

--Prepares sensitive/complex reconciliations. Researches, develops and implements reconciling procedures in conjunction with client management and accounting staff

--Analyzes accounting treatment of various transactions to ensure proper recording, including complex activities such as purchase accounting and amortization schedules for acquisitions

--Performs a variety of accounting functions on an advanced level basis; Works independently, prioritizes work load and effort with limited supervisory involvement
