Department Overview:

The Business Architect (US) will lead the end to end creation, execution and documentation of long term/ multi-year business strategy and roadmaps based on associated processes, organizations, information and technology enablers. The role will manage and support a particular business group or segment in the achievement of a business strategy and acts as source for developing new and innovative set of business capabilities. The role is responsible for following business strategy and applying it to business roadmaps and results by working closely with a specific business unit or segment.

Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge / expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas

Integrates knowledge of the enterprise sub-function’s or business line’s overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations

Interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or services

Acts as a business expert / lead integrating cross-function understanding within their own field of specialty

Leads cross-functional teams or projects with moderate to significant resource requirements, risk and/or complexity

Independently manages end-to-end functional programs within own area of expertise

Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions

Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions

Impacts the achievement of sub-function or business line objectives within the area they are accountable for

Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders

Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise

Generally reports to a Senior Manager or above

Qualifications:

Comfortable cutting through complexity and ambiguity to communicate and facilitate (help leaders visualize concepts, simplify complex scenarios, influence prioritization & consensus).

Understanding of banking business fundamentals to include (products & services, front/middle/back office functions & interactions, market/industry players & trends).

Help connect the dots across TD's segment business strategies, products, channels, and segments to identify areas of value for the enterprise.

Help capture, communicate and align strategic objectives with business architecture models using multiple tools in the business architect toolkit.

Help capture and translate business strategy to actionable business outcomes, investment roadmaps.

Previous management consulting experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Hard Skills: Exposure to architecture methodologies (prefer Business Architecture), modeling techniques (such as business capabilities, roadmaps, target states), taxonomy adoption (such as BIAN) and technology enablement and managing product roadmaps (such as HOPEX).

Soft Skills: Consensus; negotiation; ability to prioritize and multitask; management consulting; change mindset and behaviors.
