Department Overview:

The Small Business Loan Specialist II works with the Small Business Lender and Stores to obtain and verify all information necessary to satisfy conditions of lending, prepare loan documents and book loans. The role acts as a single point of contact during the time frame between approval and booking. This involves communication and correspondence with Small Business Loan Officers, Store personnel, and other support departments. Faster, smoother loan closings provide a positive experience for the Small Business Loan Customer. Effective Due Diligence Procedures & Controls ensure that loans are closed in accordance with the loan approval and Bank policy.

  • 4 Year Degree or equivalent experience3-5 Years of related experienceStrong Knowledge of Small Business and Commercial Lending Policies, Procedures and Loan DocumentationExperienced with commercial due diligence, including credit reports, title policies, appraisals, environmental assessments, entity formation documents, searches, flood, proof of insuranceAbility to read these types of reports and assessments and determine course of action if they do not support the loan request or approvalStrong Knowledge of Small Business and Commercial Lending Policies, Procedures and Loan DocumentationExperienced with commercial due diligence, including credit reports, title policies, appraisals, environmental assessments, entity formation documents, searches, flood, proof of insuranceKnowledge of business entity and ownership structures and understands how that impacts the due diligence and loan documentationKnows how to document and perfect the Bank's interest in loan collateralAbility to provide outstanding Customer service to internal and external Customers with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsStrong PC Skills, with ability to quickly adapt to enhanced functionality in the Small Business Loan Origination System(Symphony)Knowledge of title policies, property searches, appraisals, environmental assessments, entity formation documents, flood searches, UCC searches, insurance policies and certificatesKnowledge of business entity and ownership structures and understands how that impacts the due diligence and loan documentationKnows how to document and perfect the Bank's interest in loan collateral

Job Description:

  • Serves as a resource to SB QC Specialist IFollows established Customer notification procedures, including approval, decline and counter-offerIdentifies all information needed to close the loan and stays in touch with BBO or BDSM to find out the status of missing informationHelps the Lender set realistic closing date expectations with the Customer and revises the expectation when information is still missing or due diligence results are not as expectedReviews Loan Approval Conditions and follows up with BBO or BDSM to ensure they are satisfied prior to loan closingCommunicates due diligence results to Business Banking Officer or Business Development Store Manager and discusses options when the results do not support loan request / approval, or next steps when conditions are satisfactorily satisfiedRoutes loan request back to Underwriting to re-investigate, re-underwrite or re-approve loan request, and communicates with Lender if expected closing date cannot be metAssists Team Members, when volume exceeds capacity, in order to meet all established service level agreementsConsults with team leader, if necessary, when results do not support loan request / approval to determine options

Understands and resolves complex issues relating to due diligence and other post approval processes

Acts as a resource for department, lender and lender's support staff

Performs due diligence necessary to perfect collateral such as UCC filings, vehicle title applications, etc. per state and federal guidelines

Follows established procedures to result in booking of credit facilities that do not require loan documentation or loan closings

Has authority to resolve a modest amount of due diligence issues according to established procedures or works with underwriting team for additional due diligence, if necessaryDetermines that all necessary information has been gathered to complete loan documents and remains involved with the loan request until loan documents are executedReviews approved loan requests to determine due diligence requirements based on established policy and proceduresOrders and Reviews due diligence, including property valuations, property and UCC searches and determines if the results support the loan request and approval
