The Business Insights Specialist performs data analyses for our Target partnership credit card program with the goal to identify opportunities that drive growth and increase profitability for card portfolio. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to present insights and recommended actions to business stakeholders & executives, collaborate with internal and external partners on business challenges, and deliver analytical advice that aligns with strategic objectives. Additionally, this position may require occasional data support of audits, exams, and independent regulatory testing.
Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
7 + years of relevant experience from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific or financial background
Proficient PC skills including a strong competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and a variety of PC based analytical and reporting software packages
Advanced knowledge of programming languages (i.e. SAS/SQL/ R, Visual Basic, Python)
Strong analytical and program solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Responsible for providing credit card product analytical expertise, data support & interpretation, and insights to facilitate recommended actions that will enable sound business decisions or resolve complex business problems. Identify opportunities to drive profitable card portfolio growth & value for the Target partnership while working independently as the senior analyst / subject matter expert that may coach and educate others. Role will cover facets of Marketing Analytics, Card Product Management & Analysis, and Credit & Collections Risk Analytics.
• Develop analysis to illustrate Target Credit Card trends and identify areas of opportunity for growth & value for the portfolio
• Produce insights and recommend business actions to support business strategy and/or solve business problems
• Provide suggestions, ideas, and opportunities to support business needs from a data & analytics standpoint
• Identify opportunities & provide recommendations for card revenue growth and/or financial efficiencies (eg. quantify functional value, cost savings and revenue generated etc.) for Target business to expand risk adjusted profit margins
• Utilize both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to interpret and present data effectively and clearly
• Continuously enhance knowledge and expertise in analytics while keeping current on emerging trends in the cards and unsecured lending industry; grow knowledge of the business, analytical tools and techniques
• Prioritize and manage own workload to deliver quality results and meet assigned timelines while supporting a positive work environment

Bachelor’s degree or progressive work experience related to Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics or Finance in addition to:
7+ years related experience in financial services with credit card analytics experience preferred.
•In-depth knowledge of business & data analysis, credit card product and profitability related performance metrics, ratios and calculations.
•Experience in the creation and management of complex analytical frameworks
•Ability to successfully plan, develop, and execute projects.
•Strong interpersonal and consultative communication skills with well-developed presentation skills.
•Ability to manage competing priorities effectively, making good decisions based on business priorities and objectives.
•Proficient PC skills including a strong competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and a variety of PC based analytical and reporting software packages
